The Eliseev Emporium on Nevsky Prospect was built in 1902-1903 by the architect Gavriil Baranovsky in Art Nouveau style. It was purposed specially for the trading company of “Brothers Eliseevs”. Similar shops were also created in Moscow and Kiev. It was one of the most fashionable and exquisite shops of the city. The best food from all over Russia and the world was sold there. And even nowadays one can easily see this unusual place from inside where are the wonderful colored windows, the mechanical piano plays on its own without a pianist, where is the abundance of products; where pineapple tree grows right in the center of the delicious shop being surrounded by the tables for sitting and drinking coffee.
